What we’ve built, and why it works.

Three projects from our own patch, told the way we’d tell a mate: what the job was, what we made, and the small decisions that made the difference.

Dan Amato Landscaping

A landscaper’s website that lets the finished work do the talking, and makes asking for a quote easy.

Client
Dan Amato Landscaping
Place
Great Lakes, NSW
Scope
Design, build, photo albums, quote form and ongoing care

The brief

Dan builds pool surrounds, retaining walls, decking and complete landscapes between Pacific Palms and Rainbow Flat. His old website named his services and gave a phone number, but gave nobody a way to describe a project and ask for a quote online.

What we made

The first screen. “Let us build your dream outdoor space.” sits over a photo of a finished pool surround, with two clear next steps: ask for a quote, or have a look at the work.

The work. Four photo albums, one each for pool surrounds, decking, retaining walls, and landscaping and paving, with five photos apiece. Every image is one of Dan’s own finished jobs.

The enquiry. A short quote form asks for a name, phone number, email and suburb, the type of project and a few details. Each enquiry arrives by email, and Dan’s phone number sits right beside the form for anyone who’d rather ring.

The trust details. The towns he works in, a plain note that pool construction is left to the customer’s pool builder, and his ABN and licence details in the footer.

Cape Hawke Game Fishing Club

A club website that gets new members signed up, and keeps the season calendar, forms and sponsors in one place.

Client
Cape Hawke Game Fishing Club Inc.
Place
Forster–Tuncurry, NSW
Scope
Design, build, forms, sponsor pages and ongoing care

The brief

Cape Hawke Game Fishing Club is a new, family-friendly club for offshore and land-based game anglers, with around 60 members, eight club competitions and four tournaments a year. It needed a home on the web that explained what the club is, made joining easy, and gave members and sponsors somewhere they could rely on.

What we made

The look. A clean, modern site in the club’s navy, teal and gold, built around its logo and photos, and kept simple enough that a committee volunteer can follow it.

Joining up. A membership page sets out the four membership types and what they cost, with an online application that goes to the club secretary, so nobody has to print and post a form.

The season. A calendar for the whole club year, from July to June, that separates club meetings, comps, tournaments and socials, with a leaderboard ready for the first results.

The paperwork. A forms page with the membership and competition nomination forms to download, and the boat safety rescue form that can be completed online.

The sponsors. A dedicated sponsors page and a “become a partner” path, so local businesses can back the club and be recognised for it.

Tideline

A coastal map for NSW anglers that’s honest about which signals you can actually trust.

Type
Our own web app
Coverage
NSW coast, with tide data from the Forster station
Built with
TypeScript, hosted on Vercel

What it is

Tideline is a coastal-conditions map for people who fish the NSW coast. It puts the sea, the tide and the light on one screen, then ranks the best times of day to be out there.

What we made

The map. Nine switchable layers over a coastal base map: sea temperature, your own spots, ocean currents, sea level anomaly, chlorophyll, depth contours, wave buoys, a 7-day forecast and a 3-day sea-temperature forecast. The depth contours run at 10, 50, 200, 1,000 and 4,000 metres, with a legend, and hovering over a line shows its exact depth.

Sea temperature. A sea-surface temperature layer, plus a Forster-area average that shows the date it was observed, drawn from satellite data.

Bite windows. Every day the app ranks a best window and a second window, using sunrise and sunset (which are exact) and the tide at the nearest station.

Honest evidence. Every factor carries a rating: dawn and dusk are strong evidence, tide change is moderate, moon phase is weak or contested, and pressure trend is weak or anecdotal. The ranking is weighted to match.

Your spots. Anglers can add their own fishing spots to the map.

Tideline is our own project, built to show what we can do with maps, data and straight-talking interfaces.
